Xiaomi has finally unveiled their Mi 9 flagship phone at an event in Beijing, China. Xiaomi teased fans on social media days before the launch, building anticipation with images and glimpses of its specifications.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 mobile platform enabling a powerful, intuitive experience.
The Mi 9 is impressive both front and back with “holographic” colours that complement its stunning 6.39″ OLED waterdrop display. It features Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and a 40% slimmer chin at 3.6mm compared to last years Mi 8. Underneath the Full-HD+ (1080p) Samsung OLED display lies a much improved, optical in-display fingerprint sensor. The rear of the Mi 9 flaunts three vertically aligned cameras with the hero being the 48 MP Sony IMX586 sensor. The Mi 9’s revolutionary, record-breaking triple camera setup takes it to the top of the charts, according to DxOMark’s thorough testing and review.
The Mi 9 is available with either 6 GB, 8 GB, or 12 GB of LPDDR4x SDRAM (2133 MHz). Internal storage options are either 128 GB or 256 GB with no option to expand. A large 3,300 mAh Li-Po battery will help you get through the day. This also supports QuickCharge 4+ which will allow you to safely charge to 70% in just 30 minutes, and fully charge in 60 mins. The Mi 9 also features the worlds first 20W wireless charging, allowing you to power up without being tied down.
Announced alongside the Mi 9 is the more compact 5.99″ Mi 9 SE. It features the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset and shares almost all key features the Mi 9 offers. Xiaomi is yet to enter Australia and users will need to buy online or from physical stores overseas.
