Xiaomi has announced their latest smartphones in the Redmi series, Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro, during an event at Xiaomi’s new campus. Taking the spotlight is the Redmi Note 8 Pro featuring the latest Samsung GW1 64MP camera sensor and MediaTek Helio G90T chipset.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro packs plenty of upgrades over its predecessor, Redmi Note 7. The camera is better than ever thanks to the multifunctional 64MP quad camera setup with 2MP macro lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 120° field of view and 2MP depth sensor. Liquid cooling technology also makes its way to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, similar to that used in gaming phones. NFC support has also been added.
Both devices feature a large 6.53″ FHD+ dot drop display that includes low-blue-light eye protection. Expect a high quality flagship design and a screen-to-body ratio of over 91%. IP52 splash-proof technology has also been used providing effective protection from liquid such as sweat or rain.
The Redmi Note 8 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, 48MP quad camera with new macro photography lens and 18W fast-charging.
The Redmi Note 8 series still retains many features from its predecessor, such as 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, storage expansion via micro-sd card and an IR blaster. The audio system has also been improved thanks to the 1217SLS speakers and Smart PA, giving the best audio from any Redmi device yet.
RAM and storage options for both devices are as follows:
Redmi Note 8 Pro – 6GB+64GB, 6GB+128GB and 8GB+128GB.
Redmi Note 8 – 4GB+64GB, 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB.
