Xiaomi has released its first flagship phones, the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, under its newly announced independent brand “Redmi”.

Technical specifications for both phones look very impressive and indeed of flagship level. Both phones look identical but are quite different from any Redmi phone that has come before. The major feature of the K20 series is the hidden 20MP front pop-up camera. This allows for an immersive full-screen viewing experience, thanks to the pop-up front camera being hidden inside the top frame. Both devices also feature a 6.39-inch AMOLED full screen display with 3D four-sided curved glass. Xiaomi looks to have improved its nano-holographic technology and has produced a unique flamed texture on the rear glass back. The Redmi K20 series is also the first to include NFC and Hi-Res Audio certification.

The Redmi K20 features the best-in-class Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 730 SoC. The Redmi K20 Pro comes with the powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 855 SoC. This is serious technology and impressive for this price-range.

Both the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro will last a day of heavy usage, thanks to the large 4000mAh battery. The Redmi K20 Pro supports 27W quick charge over USB Type-C. It charges up to 58% in 30 minutes and can be fully charged in 73 minutes. Redmi K20 supports up to 18W charging.

Both devices are equipped with a professional-grade multi-lens camera setup. A 48MP main camera, 8MP telephoto lens and 13MP super wide-angle lens.

Unfortunately, both devices aren’t yet available from the official Xiaomi Australia Mi Store. Worth mentioning is the lack of 4G LTE support, particularly B28 700MHz, which is used on both Telstra and Optus mobile networks in Australia.
